Correspondence and legal documents concerning Grignon's relations with the Menominee Indians and his financial affairs, 1834-1851. Includes two letters, 1846-1847, to Oshkosh, a Menominee chief and friend to whom Grignon was related by marriage, both regarding the affairs of the Menominee Nation and its relations with the United States. Also a power of attorney, Jan. 27, 1834, granted to Daniel Whitney, authorizing the possession, sale, etc., of Yarmouth County, Upper Canada, lands granted to Grignon's grandfather, Charles Langlade; and an agreement, Mar. 8, 1851, with Ewing, Chute & Co., allowing the firm to collect debts owed Grignon by the Menominee in exchange for a percentage of the take.
